I would like to welcome you to the 44th Annual Governor's Prayer Breakfast. For almost half a century now, Louisianians have come together at this event to reflect on our faith and ask for God's guidance.

This year we are honored to have as our guest speaker author Eric Metaxas. Eric is the best selling author of Amazing Grace, and also has extensive experience in children's productions and writing including Veggie Tales and God Made You Special!

Faith-based groups and organizations provide a sense of community for persons of faith, guidance for those who are lost, and help for those in need. We in Louisiana know just how much help faith-based groups can provide. Following the landfall of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, it was these groups that succeeded in providing help to people on the ground most in need compared to the red tape imposed by the government.

It is an honor to share breakfast with you this morning, and to join you in this reflection and celebration of our faith.
